Light On Dark Water

I’m pretty sure this is the first and probably the last recipe that has appeared or will appear here. I meant to mention it several days ago and kept forgetting. But Sunday is, officially, Epiphany, and so still a part of the holiday season.

I'm saying "holiday" rather than "Christmas" because it’s just as appropriate for New Year’s Eve or Day as for Christmas day. It’s really wonderful if you’re able to have a really leisurely morning, preferably looking at the Christmas tree. Of course if you got drunk on New Year’s Eve you probably won’t want it on New Year’s Day, but I don’t do that, as a rule. It’s very simple:

One part bourbon
Two parts eggnog
Three parts coffee

You’ll want to heat the eggnog and bourbon first, so they don’t cool the coffee and the whole thing is hot. A touch of chocolate is really nice, too, but not necessary.
