Our priest at the Easter Vigil tonight asked "Can we believe it is not just a story?" I think he meant not just "is it true?" but "do we have the courage to believe it? to take the risk?"
What good would life have been for us, had Christ not come as our Redeemer.
That’s what I was going to say, and it means about the same.

Our parish priest published a “reflection” in the parish paper where he said (black on white), “Those with a mature faith … believe in the resurrection whether Jesus rose from the dead or not.”
I think by “mature” he must mean “confused”.
Fortunately, we don’t get much of that claptrap at the parish level around here.
Our PP gave a good homily, which did not shrink from the current scandals reported in the media etc.

Yes indeed.
Had excellent homilies from the Abbot of Pluscarden on Good Friday, Easter vigil, and Easter morning, and can’t remember a word of the latter two. I think it’s partly because the Good Friday one was so good. Certainly there was a very clear affirmation of the resurrection.
One comment I do remember from the Eastern morning sermon was that the Father’s teaching that the resurrection fulfils the Scriptures means in modern language that the resurrection explains the whole of human history.
I meant, the Fathers’.
And you probably meant Easter, too. 🙂
