…that the men who died who died when that oil rig exploded got some recognition. Take a moment to look at each picture and say a prayer for them and their families.
It’s about time…

Thanks for linking to that site. Lately I have been thinking that I hear about twice as much about who we are going to punish and how we are going to punish them as I hear about how to fix the problem, and I think this is the first thing I’ve seen about these men.

Thanks for posting this: I was wondering too when they were going to be acknowledged.

I was going to say that I had wondered whether no-one was killed at all, since this has not been reported in any of the stories I’ve read.
That’s disturbing. I’ve read a lot about the wildlife. GK Chesterton noted that humanitarians are people who place every species above humans.
I must say, today I feel pretty overwhelmed by all the battles currently in progress in The Apostate West. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. And some of us are just trying to bring up our kids as best we can. Who has time for fixing up all the idiotarian mistakes made by The Ideologues? -
Wow, I can’t believe you’ve heard nothing about the casualties. They haven’t been totally ignored in the national press here, and there has been more locally, which is not surprising, not only because they’re from nearby places, but also because there are a lot of local people working on those rigs. It could have been one or more of them.

When you get to feeling too much that way, it’s time to step back. It can really poison you (speaking from experience). -
To be fair, I haven’t been reading much stuff from the MSM lately so perhaps I’ve just missed hearing about the poor victims b/c of that. I have heard/read lots about blame and stuff.
One thing is certain – one way or another, it’s the ordinary Joes who will bear the brunt of all this. From the pensioners in Britain who will lose capital (from halved share prices) AND dividends (potentially) to the people of the Gulf itself etc. Big Guvvermint and Big Business will recover in time. -
And yes, I did finally work out that I do need to spend more time ignoring the Apocalypse. At least until my general outlook and energy levels etc improve.

Heh. I’ll have to mention those innocent pensioners to my wife, who has been venomously hoping for BP to suffer. She accuses BP of not caring what happens to the Gulf because it’s far away from Britain. I guess there’s still a bit of colonial resentment in the American psyche.:-)

Surely an Aussie could relate to that!
But isn’t it pretty much true (a la Chesterton et al) that whenever Big Business is “punished” by Big Guvvermint (or The Market) that it’s always poor Jones who cops it in the neck? -
(I just forgot I’m trying to ignore the Apocalypse).
