The House of Cards Opening Theme

I wanted to include this in last night's post about House of Cards but was in a rush and didn't have time to look for it. I love it, both musically and visually but especially musically. It's a great little trip-hop-ish piece, though I wish it were longer. UPDATE: Sorry, this is audio-only, apart from the one photo. I can't find an embeddable version of the full credits sequence.

 

It was changed a little for series 2, most noticeably by dropping the bass back a lot, and that one's not quite as good.

    Well, at the beginning of the show, don’t they pan around different locations in DC? I guess pan around isn’t exactly the right term. Or am I thinking of another show?

    What the…? I would have sworn that was the opening credits, music and video. Now I can’t find one that has the video. No, this one still photo was definitely not what I meant.:-/

    Well, I really do like the way they play with light and shadow on that opening, so I hope you find it someday.

    This one has the video, but there’s something squirrely about it–I get an odd message when I try to embed it. And yes, the light and shadow stuff is very nice. All that of course is what I had in mind when I said I loved it visually.

    Here’s the opener from ‘Luther’ — captures the mood of the thing pretty well. It’s a bit from a song by Massive Attack, btw — a trip-hop connection to the post.

    Nice. Ok, now I want to give Luther a try–I didn’t know Idris “Stringer Bell” Elba was in it (or had forgotten if you’d told me, entirely possible). I like Massive Attack’s Mezzanine a lot, though I don’t think this song is from it.
    By the way, Janet, thank you for mentioning the absence of video up there. I guess I never would have realized it.
