Light On Dark Water

I was able to move the blog in its entirety from Typepad to WordPress. I was actually pretty impressed with the speed and accuracy of that process. There are some glitches, the only really notable one being that block quotes are not displayed as such unless/until I edit the post, click a certain button, and save it. This is exasperating, since I have several thousand posts. And it’s very confusing to the reader.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

I haven’t decided whether to continue writing here or not. I’m leaning toward trying Substack, though that might be a case of jumping on a bandwagon that has just stopped moving.

Anyway, what is here will remain here permanently. In the online sense of that word.

I had to pick a design and visual theme from prepackaged ones. This is the best I could find in a hurry and may be modified in the future, or even replaced.
