Found this in an old SNJ (I will be sorting through them for a while) and rather liked it (Dennett, if you don't recognize the name, is one of the aggressive atheists, author of Darwin's Dangerous Idea). I had just read a piece in which he predicted that religion would soon wither away, now that…

I don't think I would have read this book had not our after-Mass study group chosen it. I was aware of it, of course: the conversion of former Presbyterians Scott and Kimberly Hahn had been well-publicized, and Scott's name was already known as a Catholic scholar/controversialist before this book appeared. I'll say right off that I wouldn't have read this book if I hadn't been acquainted with the author (via the Internet–we have never met face-to-face) since somewhere around 2005 or so. Many or most who read this blog will be familiar with Dawn Eden's name because of her powerful conversion story, her long-running blog…

An interesting piece at the National Catholic Register. Reassuring to those of us who had been a little worried by some of the stuff we'd heard. But the remarks about the Traditional Mass being widely celebrated in Beunos Aires directly contradict what some others have said. I don't know which is right.

(This is a post I've been wanting to write for a week or two. But as I may have mentioned, I've been working a lot of nights and weekends and haven't had much time for writing. So I'm going to go ahead and just say it briefly, which probably covers it just as well anyway.)…
