Probably you'll either fall over laughing at this or hate it. I fell over laughing. If you hate it, don't let it drive you into a hate spiral. (Warning: profanity)

However, I really don't sympathize much with anyone who doesn't like "La Bamba."

“You think you’re better than me? Are you also better than fire?”
    LOL haylavet!!!

  2. I think I may have laughed hardest at the 3:02AM one. And the one before it. And the last one, about the cheese. And all the “LOL”s sprinkled around–something that’s already annoying saying “LOL” would drive anyone around the bend.

I think it’s great how all the annoying things have this huge annoying grin on their faces.

  4. Yeah, like the brain that won’t go to sleep. But the huge annoying grin plus “LOL”–that’s just devastating.

    Oh yeah. LOL.

  6. I agree. La Bamba is one of the happiest songs I know;

Oh my Lord! That was utterly hilarious!
Don’t recall seeing the profanity (must be pretty comfortable with it)…
I don’t think I would like to hear La Bamba first thing in the morning. Although it would be better than listening to our local radio announcer (on our federally-funded broadcaster) saying we should pay more taxes for the said broadcaster.
Now that nearly sent me into a hate spiral.

  8. I’m a bird I’m a bird I’m a bird I’m a bird . . .
For some reason that made me laugh harder than all the rest of it.

  9. About 2:45 this morning I was stuck with the image of the smiling “Ha ha! No!” brain.
The first time I read it, my first laugh was provoked by the third panel (cat on face).

I keep thinking the song on the radio ought to be “I Got You Babe.”

  11. A Carol King song might do it for me. For some reason I had “You’re So Far Away” in my mind this morning and it was really getting on my nerves.

  12. I think maybe you haven’t seen Groundhog Day.

  13. Yes, I have. Great movie. I’d forgotten that was the song on the radio.

“Imagine” would do it for me. That song on its own is enough to send me into a hate spiral.

  15. Louise, have you ever seen my slam of Imagine?

  16. Louise

That was good, Maclin – thanks for posting it for me. I actually really like the music to that song, which – given the lyrics – just makes me despise it all the more. (Does that make sense?)

  17. Yes, that does make sense, Louise (liking the tune makes the whole thing more irritating). It is a nice tune.

  18. Louise

It’s better than nice – it’s really quite pretty. I even start humming the first few bars until my brain cell catches up!

  19. The lambasting of “Imagine” pretty much reflects my own views. I sort of suspect that the song is a lot of people’s first experience of utopian thinking, so they find it unforgettably mind-expanding. That would explain why so many people seem to react to it in a way that can only seem a bit sad to people who’ve already read half a dozen science-fiction utopias and Thomas More’s original.

  20. Compared to a fair few songs I’ve been battling with recently, I’d welcome waking up to “La Bamba” and having it in my head all day.
The inexplicable amount of airplay that, in these parts, has of late been given to this, or this, is just torture.

  21. I suppose you’re right about that first encounter with Imagine. I didn’t take it the least bit seriously when I first heard it, but obviously a lot of people did and do. Lennon’s role as guru totally escaped me, then and now.
Your two pop songs don’t seem that bad on a brief listen, but I can imagine how repetition could drive you nuts.
