Clayderman’s been around for years. I remember TV ads for his albums way back in the late 70s/early 80s.

I’d never heard of him. Craig, I think this actually was offered to me by eMusic in a list of albums recommended for me specifically, which was kind of disheartening.

I simply can’t comprehend the condition of mind in which someone like this would think it a good idea to call himself the world’s greatest pianist.

Oh wait, never mind, it’s “world’s most popular,” not “world’s greatest.” And apparently it’s true. “With his lush, sophisticated, instrumental, approach to pop music, Richard Clayderman (born: Phillipe Pages) is, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, ‘the most successful pianist in the world.’”
“Instrumental”, yes. “Lush”, well, ok. “Sophisticated”? uh-uh -
What, “most popular” doesn’t mean “greatest”? Quick – somebody tell the electoral commission!
