I mean, angels are popularly pictured with wings, and roosters have wings, so…. You'll note that he is tethered, so as not to menace the populace.

Is there some medieval tradition associating the Incarnation or maybe some specific event like the Nativity with the crowing of a cock? I have a vague idea there might be but I could just be imagining it.
Few things appeal to my sense of humour more than giant animal replicas on buildings. I hope there will be plenty of them in heaven, alongside the angels.

I seem to remember from my art class that in the catacombs, Peter is usually depicted with a rooster.
I found on a website somewhere-or-other that there is a Spanish/Latin American tradition that the only time a rooster crowed at midnight was at the Nativity. It used to seem to me like my rooster crowed 24 hours a day, but he’s been dead for several years, so maybe I’ve making that up.

Where I work is in the middle of a medium-sized city, but there is a rooster somewhere in the vicinity which I occasionally hear–in the middle of the day, or the afternoon.
The only problem now is I can’t say Tuesday Lauds without thinking of the giant rooster.

Well, no, a duck is always best. I saw four ducks this morning–they were lined up in a neat row, head to tail, all with their bills rooting around in the sand. I laughed. I was sorry I didn’t have my camera.
Not that funny little forest creatures wouldn’t be excellent as well. 🙂
