Laurel and Hardy Meet ZZ Top

Weekend Music

Every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man.

The music and the dance don't quite fit. To me they're close enough to be a lot of fun. Others may find it annoying. (Hat tip to Michael Potemra of National Review.)

I had another song in mind to post tonight, a very beautiful song, full of bittersweet yearning. But I changed my mind.

I had another song in mind to post tonight, a very beautiful song, full of bittersweet yearning. But I changed my mind.
    Why???
    😀

  2. Yeah, that makes it sound like I had some deep mysterious reason, doesn’t it? But I didn’t–it was just a whim. I’ll save the other thing. Tune in next week.
It occurs to me that “tune in next week” is an expression that probably doesn’t mean much to young people. I mean, it’s clear what it means, but it doesn’t have the associations.

Well, I do know of a thing or two that must be tuned into weekly 🙂 But other than that — yes, I don’t suppose it has quite the same associations for me as it has for you.

  4. In days of old it was a standard announcement at the end of a weekly radio or tv program, usually with a little tease about the next episode–“Tune in next week, when Eddie’s easy money scheme goes horribly wrong, leaving a trail of corpses from one end of Mayfield to the other!…” Oops, I’m mixing up my entertainment eras.

  5. I love it.

Batman ended with something like, ‘tune in next week, same time, same channel’.

  7. Same bat time–same bat station.

  8. Oh yeah, I forgot “same time, same station”–that’s the way I remember it. Never really saw Batman very much, so I missed that variant.

  9. btw, in case y’all didn’t recognize it: Mayfield is the town where the Cleavers lived (Leave It To Beaver). Which of course means Eddie is Eddie Haskell.
But honesty compels to admit that I had to look up the name of the town.

  10. I love the way they seem to be sort of listening at first, then making a couple of tentative moves, before they really get into it.
I guess I need to get me one of them hats, so the girls will be crazy about me, too.

  11. When you do, I hope you will post a picture.

  12. Of course. Maybe even a video of me dancing like that.

  13. I was going to suggest that since you have taken to making and posting videos.

  14. That’s pretty funny. Here’s the original in case anyone’s not seen it.

  15. Thanks. I had not seen the original. Truth is, I’ve never really found L&H that funny.
