I don’t have time to look at that at the moment, but when my kids were little, I used to tell them I loved them 47. I have no idea why.

Well, now you know, sorta. Or will when you look at that link. I mean, you know it wasn’t an accident.

I always say that one of the great benefits of the Internet is that it makes available the research of independent scholars. This is a great example.
Has anybody mentioned yet that 47 is a prime? That, I believe, is hugely significant. -
The main thing I notice is that it’s not 42. That calls into question the work of the many researchers who have expanded on the initial findings of Douglas Adams.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

In fact, if Romney had said 42%, I doubt anyone would have had the temerity to challenge him.

‘Temerity’ is a great word, especially in this context. Has anyone noticed that if you assign numerical values to each letter of that word based on their positions in the alphabet (20, 5, 13, 5, 18, 9, 20, 25), add the values of all the consonants (doubling the value of the initial T, of course, since it is capitalized) and subtract the value of the vowels, you get … 47?

Busy today, Craig?
AMDG -
Yes, Craig, I was going to point that out, too.

Not too busy to do a bit of number theory, Janet. My job is to extend the boundaries of knowledge, especially on such important matters as these.

Without having done any prior research, I would like to suggest that the ration of males to females in the 47 Society is at least 47 to 1.
AMDG -
It’s exactly 47 to 1.
-
On the way home, I started wondering how the heck you found that website.
AMDG -
Oh no. Typepad has changed its captcha and it’s harder.
-
Bet you’ve never had a captcha where the number was 47. Coincidence? I think not.
