Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue

Yes, that's a piece of sky, and even though you probably aren't going to see in it what I saw when I took the picture, I'm posting it anyway. This was taken after a heavy rain, when the wind had swept all the clouds away and brought in cool dry air, leaving us with a deeper, cleaner, bluer sky than we usually have. It's very humid here, and even on a clear day the sky is usually somehow a bit…not exactly washed out, but slightly filmed, compared to a day like this one.

I don't think of "sky blue" as one of my favorite colors, except when I'm actually looking at the sky.

  1. Louise on the new ‘puter

    Love it!!

  2. We, on the other hand, had snow– a moderately heavy, persistent snow which lasted for hours and left not one flake on the ground or anywhere else. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it before. It was great fun to walk around in it. Everyone at the grocery store was smiling.

  3. And I meant to say that there is a certain combination of shades of green and brown and blue-grey sky that we see a lot of this time of year. It is very peaceful and beautiful to look at outside, but I would never decorate a room in those colors.

  4. I took it at first for some hundred-year-old work of modernist art. An exercise in sheer blueness. A sky like that must be amazing.
We for days have had shades of grey from charcoal to silver. All would do well on a picture. None is conducive to oldest child’s astronomical endeavours.

  5. Actually this was taken back in December. We’ve had grey and cold for the past several days, too. Today it’s clear again, but not as pristine as it was for this picture.
Snow in March in Mississippi?! Climate change again…
