You’re right. The truth trumps satire.
New Emails in Clinton Case Came From Anthony Weiner’s Electronic Devices

I saw that headline a little while ago and truly could not decide whether it was a joke or not. Truly.
-
Yeah.
-
Absolutely! I kept looking at the NYT banner and thinking it must be prank website, like Now York Times.

Apparently the New York Post is turning out a doozie of a front page on this one tomorrow.
Apologies for bringing down the level of conversation around here. -
Marvelous headline, but I could do without the picture.
Even the more straightforward “Anthony Weiner’s Electronic Device” starts sounding dirty. -
Aside from the weirdness of the whole thing, there was this sentence from the NYT article. “…the F.B.I. seized electronic devices belonging to Huma Abedin, a top aide to Mrs. Clinton, and her husband, Anthony Weiner.”
You can write a sentence like that and get paid by the NYT? It took me a while to figure out what it was supposed to say.

I think I understood it on first reading as it was intended. But if so it’s a shame that it doesn’t mean the FBI seized Anthony Weiner.
-
I sounds like Weiner is HC’s husband.
AMDG -
It can also be read as “seized electronic devices and Anthony Weiner.”
-
But yeah, if you didn’t know the people, that’s how you would read it (HRC’s husband).
-
Oh, you’re right. It is a shame, and yet it conjures up just one more awful image.

My Manhattanite sister thinks she’s lives in a cultured city and Mac and I live in a land of dumb people. I don’t see the Mobile Press Register running a headline like that anytime soon.
-
Even if your sister’s view is correct, it just shows you can be smart and still be trashy.
-
And vice versa.
AMDG -
Yep
