Here’s the link. I’m not sure I’ll stick with it.
Giving Substack A Try

I’ll be curious to know what you think of Substack! I’ve thought of migrating over to it myself, but I’ve been kind of confused about how it works. I’m not keen on charging people to read whatever it is that I write.
I love the name you chose for your Substack. I laughed.

Sorry your comment didn’t appear–I just discovered that I had left one of the require-approval settings on.
I’m still a little confused myself about the way the Substack subscription mechanism works–e.g. whether people can just read without subscribing. It’s *really* oriented toward monetization (should that even be a word?) and sort of leads you in that direction. I have no intention of ever doing that, so I had to, for instance, modify some settings to keep it from offering a paid subscription option.
As far as writing and posting are concerned, it’s reasonably straightforward. Not as many options. It doesn’t want to use a normal log in/log out division so I have a little trouble separating the reader and writer views of things, which is one reason for the confusion I mentioned.
I’m not at all sure I haven’t made a mistake but there is no gun at my head forcing me to continue.
I’m very happy that you laughed at the name. I did too, when it occurred to me. 🙂

I’m not that familiar with Substack myself, but it appears that I can read your post without subscribing. But as far as I can see I don’t see a place to comment on your post? There’s a heart symbol where one I think can “like” your post. But no place to actually make a comment. But perhaps I just don’t see it? Or perhaps you don’t want any comments any more 🙂

Sorry, I just noticed this. I hope you see this reply. I do very much want comments–that’s half the fun, at least. Most likely though only subscribers can comment. I’ll see if there’s a setting that can override that.
