Having given Substack a try…

…I’m sticking with it for the time being. It’s been something like nine months now since the previous post, in which I said I was going to try it, and I like it well enough. My concern expressed in the post before that one–that I might have jumped onto a bandwagon that has stopped moving–has proven to have some foundation. There are a lot of people there complaining that in various ways it isn’t as good as it was a few years ago. I don’t know whether my stuff is more or less read there than it was here, as I never had very good statistics at Typepad. But I’m invested now, and sticking with it.

I have two different publications there. The first one is pretty much a continuation of what I’ve been doing at Light On Dark Water since 2004:

Not Literature: Remarks, mainly on books and music.
“Remarks are not literature.” — Gertrude Stein

The second is a book, Some Great Thing, more or less a memoir, being published in more or less weekly posts:

Some Great Thing: For a description and explanation, click on that link and read the About page.

If you’ve liked my writing here, please come and read. Thank you.
